DIPALOK BISWAS (SITARIST) | MONON | OBOKOLPO

Dipalok belongs to a family where music is valued at its epitome. His father Mr. Dipak Ranjan Biswas introduced him to the world of classical music with a small custom-made Sitar at the age when he just began to sit!

Since then, his classical training has been structured initially by Mr. Rabindranath Mukherjee and then by Ustad Niladri Sen (Radio Graded Artist) under Rampur Gharana.

Presently he is professionally learning the intricacies of Hindustani Classical Music from Pandit Ashim Choudhury who is a top grade Radio artist in India. He is getting his taalim in Imadadkhani Gharana under his guru who is also a disciple of Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee, father of sitar pioneer Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee.

Dipalok has performed in several shows and conferences like Bhawanipur Sangeet Sammilani Kolkata, Gandhar Pancham Music Welfare Foundations, Majlish and in Vistaar.  He has also performed in Hamsadhwani International Youth festival 2018 at Lucknow. He was recently awarded as the best competitor at a national level competition, Murari Smriti Sangeet Sammilani 2019.

Dipalok also tries his hands on creative classical fusion compositions and is associated with musical groups in his college as well as outside. He has gathered accolades from performing at college festivals like Umang at Bhawanipur education Society College and Xavostaav at St. Xavier’s Kolkata.

He is interested in learning music and sound production to cater his musical journey. With his training under two extremely diverse Gharana, and his love towards Bengal Folk and World music, he is in a journey of creating something very own, embracing everything that he has learnt from his family, culture and the world around!

Dipalok is a successful B Grade radio artist in All India Radio.
